Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and what you can ask us to do about it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than boilerplate.
1. Who We Are
PressWerk is operated by PressWerk Tech LLC, a Florida company. We are the controller of the personal information described here.
PressWerk Tech LLCadmin@presswerk.tech
2. What We Collect
Information you give us. Your name, email address, phone number where you provide it, the collection or delivery address for your order, and the contents of any message you send us.
Your artwork. The files you upload, plus the technical properties we extract from them during preflight, such as page size, colour space, resolution and embedded fonts. Artwork may contain personal information you have placed in it, for example a name or address on a business card.
Order information. What you ordered, the specification, the price, which shop produced it and the order status.
Payment information. Handled entirely by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment, the card brand and the last four digits. We never receive or store your full card number, expiry or security code.
Technical information. IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and approximate location derived from IP, which we use to find print shops near you.
3. Why We Use It
To run preflight and repair on your files. To find and route your job to a print shop that can actually produce it. To take payment and issue receipts. To keep you informed about your order. To answer your messages. To detect fraud and abuse. To meet tax and accounting obligations. And to understand, in aggregate, which parts of the service work and which do not.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your artwork to train machine learning models.
4. Preflight and Artwork Processing
Production preflight runs on Enfocus PitStop, licensed commercial prepress software used by print shops worldwide. When you upload artwork — PDF, PNG, JPEG, or TIFF — we first store it in encrypted cloud object storage so it can be processed, previewed, and delivered to the shop that produces your order.
Your file is transmitted to Enfocus PitStop under contract for automated inspection and repair: bleed, colour space, embedded fonts, effective resolution, trim geometry, and related production requirements. PNG, JPEG, and TIFF uploads are normalized to PDF as part of that process. Enfocus returns a production-ready PDF and a technical report. We store those outputs in the same object storage for the retention period described in section 6.
Proof previews shown during checkout are rendered for display — typically in your browser from the PDF bytes on your device. They are not a separate marketing upload and are not retained as standalone image files unless the repaired production PDF itself is kept under our normal artwork retention rules.
Enfocus processes your files only to perform the preflight service we request. It does not use your artwork to train machine learning models or for its own marketing. Enfocus is bound by confidentiality under our agreement with them.
5. Who We Share It With
The print shop producing your order. It receives your artwork, the job specification, your first name and the contact details needed to arrange collection or delivery. Shops are contractually required to use this only to fulfil your order.
Service providers who operate the platform on our behalf. We use contracted companies for hosting, data storage, payment processing, email delivery, and preflight processing. They receive only what they need to perform that work for us and are bound by contract to keep it confidential. They may not use your information for their own purposes.
Where the law requires it, including valid legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of users, the public or PressWerk. If PressWerk is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, and we will tell you before it does.
6. How Long We Keep It
Uploaded artwork: 48 hours after your initial payment or upload, whichever applies to that file, unless you subscribe to a paid storage plan for keeping files and reordering. On a storage subscription, files remain while the subscription is active and current. If a recurring storage payment fails or you cancel, we automatically delete stored artwork within 48 hours of non-payment.
Artwork attached to an order you never paid for is deleted after 48 hours.
Order and transaction records: seven years, which is the retention period tax and accounting law requires of us.
Account information: kept until you ask us to delete it.
Support and contact messages: two years.
Print shops receive a copy of your artwork in order to produce your job and are contractually required to delete it once the job is complete. Their copy is outside our direct control.
7. Security
Data is transmitted over TLS. Files are stored in access-controlled cloud storage. Access to production systems is limited to those who need it. Payment card data never touches our servers.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information we will notify you as required by Florida and federal law.
8. Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser storage for things the service cannot work without: keeping you signed in, holding your job in progress, and remembering interface preferences such as theme and whether you have seen the introduction. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Clearing browser storage will reset these and may discard an unfinished job.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it and to be free from discrimination for exercising any of these. Florida residents have rights under the Florida Digital Bill of Rights. California residents have rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, including the right to opt out of sale or sharing, which is straightforward here because we do neither.
To exercise any right, email admin@presswerk.tech. We will verify your identity and respond within the period the applicable law requires, normally 45 days. Some information must be retained for legal reasons even after a deletion request.
10. Children
PressWerk is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact admin@presswerk.tech and we will delete it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a revised date and, where the law requires, communicated to you directly. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
